What is the name of my dartfish?

I bought five of these guys three days ago and the owner of the fish store has never had them before and does not know their scientific name. I looked at fishbase.org under dartfish and did not see them. He was calling them nano dartfish for a lack of a better discription. They are 1/2" - 3/4" long. They really love the copepods in my tank and are doing well.




The pictures are cropped and shot at 1600 iso, so they are a bit fuzzy.

Cool! I'de love a few to go in my 20 gal with Trimma and Eviota gobies.
I bought 2 from a store here in NY, but they never made it through the night.

As you can see in the condition of these fish - belly already partly sunken in - there are very docile and extremly hard to keep in good condition. I lost ther one I kept after a few months. Due to the size of the fish they need frechly hatched brine or rotifers to make it. I doubt that they would ever eat and flakes or pellets but would give it a try with Otohime B1. I hope you have better luck than I did - specially as you could get an entire group. Please keep me posted - here or PM - about your long term success.

You are correct about the fish with the sunken belly, he did not make it. He would not eat and showed no interest in any foods including roti fers. The others are actively picking off the reef bugs on the glass and I think they should do fine, though they prefer me to shut off the water flow for them to eat. Thanks for the info.

Picking of the substarte sounds rather strange for a fish who seems to stay in the open water column and feed on planktivore stuff.

Did you try newly hatched brine already?

Check in the breeding forum - there are a lot of poeple from CA - maybe one can mail you a smaple of Otohime B1 as I am sure they will eat that. I did not know this food as I had this goby ( its is not a dartfish)
