what is the nicest blenny out there

I'm partial to the midas blenny. Super personality. colorful, out in the open a lot of the time.

Ember (stigmata) blenny for a larger blenny. The color can be hit or miss, though (some are very plain colored, some are amazing)

For smaller blennies, I like the tailspot and the blue/gold (Ecsenius lividanalis)

Linear, Tailspot, Midas, Bicolor, and Orange spotted are some of the most colorful/interestingly patterned ones that are readily available.

Some of the fang blennies are also relatively colorful.

I have one of these, and the picture does NO JUSTICE to the actual color, in life. Lots of yellwo along the back, the turquoise and pink spotting is intense.

this is completely a personal opinion type question, but my favorite is the "starry blenny" .. deep purple and reddish coloration with beautiful white spots all over. Beautiful fish with lots of personality

+1 on the Starry. What a beautiful fish. I've read they can be a little pesky though. My tailspot (RIP) was a model citizen and very lovely. Did a week long blackout and I think he starved from lack of film algae during that time. When the lights came on after a week, he was skinny as heck and died soon after. He ate lots of mysis and other foods too so I was quite surprised by his demise.

Red Sea mimic blenny. The comical look and behavior of the bicolor in a much more beautiful and colorful fish. I love my bicolor but this fish is just amazing.

My Starry is the clown of the tank. Eats everything I throw in there and how he swims with that huge belly is beyond me. Just a great fish.

I'd vote for the starry: color changes as fast as a cuttlefish: pinto to brown to black to black with stars. Every tweak of curiosity and surprise registers in a color change: very personable, very funny, not aggressive. Mine is buddies with a little tailspot blenny, which is a smaller blenny with a comical face and cute perching habits. Mine likes to live in a hammer coral and pop out when a buddy swims past.

I have a canary blenny, and although it is solid yellow, it has some interesting characteristics. For one, it plays dead at night, turning white and sitting on top of the powerhead or in a corner. They are also poisonous, and have bright red fangs (similar to niger triggers). The only downside is it doesn't sit on anything during the day: it swims in open water.

I really enjoyed my Midas and will get another as soon as I can. He crashed into a rabbit fish spine during feeding and died soon after ... RIP

I would say the stigmata blenny , it changes color depending on it's mood. Pretty neat I've had mine for about 3 years. The prices on them seem to vary, I've seen $40-$80. Another cool blenny is the golden salfin blenny/golden tonga blenny(Atrosalarias fuscus). I have a pinky size one that's really active and cute. Good luck with your search.

i love my midas blenny, tons of character, always perching somewhere, except for feeding time when he stuffs himself silly.

very cool colorful fish!
