Looks like a very ****ed off anemone. How it got into a canister filter is beyond me.

Don't just peal it off or you will kill it. The preferred method is to either point some direct flow at it, or an ice cube applied directly to the foot will cause it to release.

You can peel off anemones. You won't automatically kill it.

The important thing is not to damage the foot. If you can lift off an edge of the foot, you can slowly roll it off the surface. Don't pull or yank it off. But rather 'push' it off.

Yep, use the edge of a credit card to gently lift a bit of the foot then slowly slide the card under the foot to lift it off. Hard to tell what kind of nem it is. You can place it in a clear container of tank water to see if it'll open up for you.

How big is that thing? I'd love to see this thing opened up, looks cool! I would probably put it in a clear containter too (as suggested above) so you can identify it before you let it go in your display.

Cheers guys yes after removal it is a nem bubble tip. Managed to get it out with ice and credit card was hanging on for dear life though. I think it may be a split from my green bubble tip as loos identical although rather distressed.

My bubble tip went missing for a while maybe it split then. Maybe got sucked up when the mrs topped up the tank while i was away and the canister inlet skimmer part floated off.
