If this is ick it is no where else on her body. It it only on her bottom jaw and for the 1st time ever it is preventing her from eating... I started hypo with her yesterday but if she is not going to eat i need to do something faster as i dont think she can go 4 weeks without food.

what is it and how do i cure it now?

It's not ick. Looks like I see soft tissue which is most likely a fungal or bacterial infection. There are treatments at the LFS for such but I would suggest setting up a quarantine tank and administering meds there and NOT in the main tank. Often bacterial/fungal medications will also kill the beneficial bacterial colonies in your display tank. Get other opinions/advice and READ, but do it quickly.

yeah the cross is in a Qt tank right now.. but i am not sure what medication to use as treatment.

I would bet fugal or bacterial. Go get the meds from the lfs, they will have the knowledge to help you pick. Most of the time there is a treatment that treats for both concurrently.

How long has it been like this? It looks rather large.

fungal infections are not really all that common in marine fish so I would be its more bacterial.

do you notice anything else on her face, whats concerning to me is how big it looks, like she could be harboring a large infection.

Nitrofurzone, Maracyn-2 are two antibotics that come to mind that you should start with.

Ah, but shes not eating right?

she is eating but not like before.. just nibble here and there...

i just added some melafix and primafix to the QT tank... should i get nitrofurzone or maracyn-2( PS who sells this MD does not carry it)

HI,

I would start with an antibotic to see if that helps. melafix and pimafix are more like 'homeopathetic' therapies, not really what you want to treat with.

if you want to start with Maracyn-2 (make sure its 2 that is for saltwater fish) you can get it at PetsMart or the like, its cheap too, like 5-10 bucks.

Nitro you can get at lots of places too, maybe MD under Furazone?
