Can anyone tell me what this is on my kryptonite trumpet frag? I've had it about 4-5 months and one head split but nothing much else. It looked and still does look great. Since I started feeding it regularly (thawed Hikari mysis) and getting all my numbers stable I noticed this. Is this growth or is it something bad?

Will they harm lps coral or anything else for that matter? How could I get rid of them? There's some on the base of my froggspawn too and it has been retracted a bit the last two days.

There's some debate...their mucus strands they use to catch food particles can annoy some corals, and corals that grow over their shells can be a bit deformed looking. But, as far as really truly harming corals...I don't think so.
Getting rid of them is a losing battle once they're established. You can clip them off of frags with some bone cutters or you can place a dab of superglue over each hole entrance. Or, you can fight them all by getting your nutrients down (skimming, reduced feedings, growing macroalgae, increased water changes with RO/DI saltwater, running GFO, etc.)

So since I've only seen these guys on the krypto trumpet frag and the frogspawn frag I took a bowl of tank water and removed the trumpet, placed it in the bowl of tank water and crunched off the "shells" with a needle nose pliers. Then repeated on the frogspawn. I think I got all of them off but my frogspawn was glued down so I had to use a little force to unglue it. It came off ok but i dropped it and a little tissue came off a couple of the tentacles. Now it's completely retracted. i hope it will be ok. Thanks for the info. Hope I haven't done more damage by trying to get them off of there.
I definitely will be keeping an eye out now that I know what those guys are. I"m new to reefing (1 year) and don't have many corals yet. I've noticed this for awhile but thought that the trumpet was "budding". I research every free moment I've got for 18 months and never heard a mention of these kind of snails.
