What is This on My Torch?

I have had this torch for almost a year. It used to extend its polyps really long, but lately not so much. They still extend, just not as long as they used to.
It has always had this thing on it but now the thing has grown much bigger.
I took this picture at night after lights out and was able to get a shot of the "feather" looking part extended. Kind of reminds me of a feather duster, but I think I have seen it called a coral barnacle.
Should I remove it from the torch?

One of my frog spawn has that. It doesn't seem to bother it.

I had the same thing on one of my torch corals, eventually the torch wouldn't extend any more. so I got some super glue gel & sealed the barnacle in & by the next day my torch was as good as new, full extension!
