What is this pink stuff???

Out of nowhere this pink fernlike stuff started growing out of my sand. I have no idea where it has come from, nor what it is. Is it harmful? Should I leave it alone and let it grow? Someone please help!!!

I forgot to mention...it appears to be soft, almost fleshy in structure. My rock is mainly just base rock.

Does it remind you of cotton candy? If so, it may be cotton candy algae. With the right conditions, this stuff can get out of hand. It's really quite lovely, billowing in the current. I've tried to keep it but it's crack to my snails, so I can't. If it gets out of hand for you, get some snails on it.

I wouldn't say it looks like cotton candy. and the snails are not even looking at it. I have other pics that remid me more of a micro version of a colt coral.

I've had Cotton Candy algae before (EVIL stuff), but this looks different, seems to have more of a structure to it.
Curious.
Oh, for the record, Money Cowries are the only thing I've ever found that would eat Cotton Candy Algae.
