if he had it from the start it could just be a coloring quirk.
Otherwise it could be a scratch.

A bit more description and history will be needed to tell for sure.

thanks guys! He didn't have these marks up until yesterday, what would cause this ? he just scraped up against something? there's nothing in the tank other 2 pvc elbows. I've had them about 3 weeks and there still in the QT.

I got so worried that he was coming down with something.

Not sure without a pic of your tank. Can happen on most anything.
