I could probably copy and paste what i am about to say every time i see this. Bonsai gets misidentified way too much.
Purple Bonsai originated from an organization call G.A.R.F. They are the originators of the GARF Bonsai Acropora. So to be true Bonsai, it must have come from GARF's original colony, or have lineage to it. GARF's Bonsai was purple and did have green polyps, but did not have the corallites that the OP's Acro does. So definitely not Bonsai for those two reasons.
There are hundreds of species of Acropora that could be purple with green polyps. Grouping them all as Bonsai can be bad. Let it grow out and bring back pics so we can get a better idea.
Guys first off thats for all the responses. Today I got to pick this frag up along with some other nice pieces. I will post pieces shortly, I don't foresee her not opening up nicely in my tank ;-) Can't wait to see the polyp extensions on this pieces they seem so bright!
