This wasn't there yesterday, can anyone tell me what it is? I cycled with dry rock and dry sand and it finished about 3 weeks ago. This rock was my first coral addition and it's been in there about 10 days.

I realyl like the pic.. but can you zoom in right on it so that it is as close as it can get.

Dont zoom the pic/crop/edit... just zoom on the phone/camera.

No, I can't zoom in any closer and stay in focus. I tried again, but I don't think it's much better.

I found a picture my son took 3 days ago of the same area. I circled the zoa that is now pushed up by this thing. I didn't notice until just now that the blob may have been there at the 5 o'clock position of the circle.

I was trying to see it's cell structure. If you look close at the edges they are representative of a polyp.

They have the same edging. But I can not tell what is in the middle.

In the pic above (where it has the red circle) 4 polyps left.... same type coloring on the edge of the one polyp there... yes? or just the way the light is?

No, the one I think you're asking about to the left was just being pushed by the one crammed next to it and you're seeing the under side of it on the right side.

I'll see how it looks tomorrow and try to get a better picture.

thanks

You may have to wait to really get an idea of what this is. I have seen zoas that get a sponge growth on them and it makes them look weird.

Yes I agree with the underside look now that I am awake this morning... hahaha

I was hoping to borrow a lens that would let me take a macro picture but it didn't pan out.

They're not as clear as the other pictures, but I took a couple more today just after the lights went on and before they all opened up. It looks like this thing is growing right out of the zoa's stalk and not up from the rock like I originally thought.

in the very first pic, to me, it looked like the polyp was growing onto thr glass. but then the other pics show the colony is sill quite aways from the glass.
