what is this?

this has been growing slowly for a few years, now in the last 6 months is has tripled in size and spread about 2 feet away in my tank.

A few questions about this:
- What is this?
- Should I be worried
- Can I trim around it without polluting my tank?

Any help would be much appreciated as I can't seem to find anything that looks like this.

Looks like some kind of montipora.

Collospongia sp--- Photosynthetic sponge

it is soft and pliable. Kind of feels like a mushroom. I was able to cut some large sections out to give my frogspawn some more room and it loves it.
I cut a small piece off and see if it will take.

I think you nailed it. That looks like it.

it does grow fast and I think I will try cutting some off and see if I can trade for some other corals.
