what is this?

The worm looking thing in the middle towards the bottom.
It has a snail head and never comes out of the "cocoon" and it has spider web consistency stuff attached to the rocks around it.
Good or bad???

vermitid snail.,..it's harmless, but if you don't like the stringy stuff, just crush it with a knife.
 
That's wild how you got that from that pic, but your right. I've heard they bother clams. Is this correct Eric?
 
yeah they can cause some irritation in clams. I always pop them off or bust them with a knife to be on the safe side.

Joe the pic isn't very clear but between the description and the image in the pic I was able to determine what it is.

They use the webs to catch and reel-in minute food particles (mainly detritis). If you're concerned about its impact to the clam, kill it. I have a number of them in my tank, but none directly contacting my clams with their webs. They've never caused a problem, so I just let them be.
