What is this?

This was on a colony of palys I got, and I am just wondering what it is.
Is it a snake polyp?

is it some type of SPS? it looks hard and like it could be some type of acro or something, but then again, it could be...hmmm.....something....(lol,idk...???)

This was like a zoa/paly polyp when I took it off of the rock.It just peeled right off.

So that white "base" isn't calcified or anything? Hows it feel when you touch it? soft, slimey, squishy, hard? (boy that doesnt sound pg13)

To clarify, the base of whatever this is feels soft, slimy & squishy.
It feels like a fat PE polyp base. That is what made me think snake polyp, but I want to be sure. LOL.

Very close to that. I am pretty sure it is a snake polyp, and there are 3 or 4 more on another colony of these PE's I got. I have read that the polyps only come out after dark. I will be checking to see. If they come out, I will snap a flash picture, or at least try to. LOL.

I blew the color out a bit to get more detail. Maybe it will be easier to ID

Let us know what it does at night and I'll keep my fingers crossed it doesn't try to eat you!

Even with the coloring now I can see a few more details better but I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like it. The top reminds me of a leather almost while the bottom is so much like a paly or zoo polyp

I didn't notice anything different with lights off.

Looks like its opening up a bit more from the other pics.. are the white spots detrius\sand\or possibly polyps that could after more of an acclimation period show as the link i found?

If it isn't something like that my best guess, despite the funky base being just like a paly or a zoo would be maybe some kind of leather that was fragged real odd
