?? What is up with my clam??

I have had 2 clams in my tank for about 3 or 4 months now. They seemed to be doing great and slowly getting bigger. I have them under T5s and regularly feed the tank with phyto pheast, marine snow, DT's eggs and cyclopeese. (obviously not all on the same days) Today when I got home I noticed the clams were not open fully like they usually are. I had just put in a new Hydor pump which was producing tons of flow. They clams are on the sand and were getting just the tail end of this flow. I thought this may have been the problem so I moved them a little further away from the powerhead about 2 hours ago.
I was just walking by the tank and noticed this thing coming out of the clam. For lack of a better description it looked like a white banana or (male unit). I got these pics, they aren't great but I wanted to get something before it went away. What is it? Thanks in advance

Maybe he's happy to see you.

Damn.....That clams a-packin!

haha thats funny!!!! Isn't that the foot??

LOL... Clam Jeremy
The clam was not attached to anything when I moved it.
Should anything be done or just leave it alone?

No it went down right after the pictures and has returned to normal. Seems to be happy, well maybe not THAT happy. Really odd and nobody really knows what it was. Best guess was the foot extended upward, but I don't know why.

Dave do you have any pics of the green mili. I just got a T-5 fixture, waiting for bulbs. I want to see what it will look like.

What kind of watts per gallon are you running on your T5 clam setup? i have been thinking about trying one but still am not sure.

GVR, I am running only 4 T5 54 watts on a 55 gal. If you get the clams under 2.5 - 3 inches then you will need to feed them, because they are not big enough to live on the light alone.

Schieby, Thanks for the reassurance you are the first person I have heard from, who has seen this happen also. I figured it couldn't be that bad now that it has returned to normal. Any idea what caused it?
