What is wrong with these zoos?

A few of the zoos in this colony have lost their color, become enlarged, and remain open in low light conditions. Any ideas?

coffee brown protopalythoas with a mix of what looks like radio active dragon eyes.

Nothings wrong with them. Higher light for the RDE's the protopalys don't care much, but with higher light the brown protopaly will develop better silvering in the disk.

Ahh... that makes sense, now that I have spotted a few more amongst some eagle eyes. They just looked like what I thought was a diseased radioactive dragon eye.

Well, they are ugly (IMO). Is there an easy way to kill off the strand without damaging surrounding polyps?

you can exacto knife them off, pluck them off or chip them off. THose protopalys are very fast growers and can take over a square foot by the time you blink an eye ( exgerating here but they grow super fast ).
