what is wrong?

this large colony has been perfectly healthy for about year. Everything in tank doing great - just did a water change... for past two days, tho, several polyps turning brown and closed up. Sorry for poor photo but you can see the brown guys towards the top . Leave it be or try to cut them off? Does not look like pox, right? Thanks

Any chance that when you did a water change that some undissolved salt could have landed on them.. I have seen it many times, a little salt can cause a huge problem..

possible I guess but I dissolve my salt at least 6 hours with a powerhead in the bucket... but I scraped off the bad buttons and did a quick lugol's dip so we'll see what happens. thanks for your help.

hey susan just an FYI you should mix your salt at least 24 hours before putting into your tank... I mix my salt for 3 days prior to make sure everything is dissolved...

Then the day before I make sure all parameters are the same before mixing into my display.. That way when you add the salt into the tank there is no change in parameters...
