What is your favorite goby?

mine kept winding up in my sump. they thought the overflow was a water slide. also i have a sixline and he never left them alone. they were short live in my tank to say the least.

now that is a cool lookin fish. where would you find one of those around here? i usually buy my stuff from saltwaterfish.com but i dont think they carry this guy.:(

i have a yellow watchman gobie... he is awesome... cleans the sand a little and goes crazy when i feed the tank. plus i love the bright coloring. i just got a pistol shrimp today after having the gobie for about 2 weeks. as soon as he was released after acclimation he went right to where the gobie lives and started to turn his apartment into a condo. its really fun watching him dig and plow the sand around.

I purchase 99% of my fish through www.reefhotspot.com

is there any problem mixing gobys together in a tank? i am interested in the mandarin dragonet and possibly the yasha

No problem with those 2... Also, a Mandarin Dragonet is not a goby. However, in order to successfully keep a Mandarin you're tank will need to have lots of Live Rock, and have been established for a while.

Primarily because they survive mainly, and usually only, on live copepods. Some will take frozen food, and even dry pellets, but their diet will still primarily be pods. It's usually not recommended to purchase one before 6 months time. A refugium with macro algae is also good to have, as this give the pods a place to thrive without being constantly hunted by fish in the display.

thanks for the advice, i am in the process of making a refugium now( with the help of my brother) and hopefully i can get some pods from the buy someone has listed on here.

currently i'm running a 75 gal. with about 100lb of live rock.

It'll be enough for one Mandarin as long as there aren't a ton of other predators in the tank as well (wrasses for example may out compete the mandarin)

i have 1 sixline wrasse, would it really be a big problem to mix the 2? even if i can supply enough pods?

sixline's can be bullies. It would've been better if he was introduced last to your tank, rather than first. They're kinda hit or miss with other docile fish like Mandarins.

i have an agressive 6 line. the key to adding fish to my tank now is i have to reaquascape it. its like hitting the reset button and there are no established territories.
