Here in Anaheim, we have several groundwater wells. Depending on what part of the city you live in, it is either BAD....or TERRIBLE. My in-line TDS meter runs 760-900 consistently. After speaking to the city about this, they pretty much said "Yup... about right". A couple of weeks ago, I noticed my tank just not looking right. My TDS was tested at 1490 ppm. Thinking this wasn't possible, I had a specialty SPS LFS double check my results. 1490 was bang on the money. He didn't think that number was possible in a residential water supply, so HE called my City WD and got an answer saying what I had suspected all along. Depending on the location in the city, time of year, and even time of day, the TDS can fluctuate tremendously. Anaheim also uses Chloramine which won't be removed using a standard carbon block in a RODI unit. A specialized carbon block is required to remove Choloramine.
