What kind of Algae is starting to grow?

Hi,

Anyone know what kind of Algae this is? It's starting to grow, and was first noticed on a few spot of the side glass, stuck on in a single point and fanning out with the fern-like stalks waving in the breeze.

Now it has spread to the sand bed and rocks as well.

It's very hard to pull off, it's slippery, not easily broken or grabbed with tweezers, holds on for dear life and basically needs to be scraped off the glass.

Most of the growth is less than 1/2 inch tall.

My live rock is fake, so the only things in the tank that came from the ocean are the livestock. But it could have been contaminated as it arrived wet and I did not dry it before starting my new tank with it.

I did use Arag-Alive Hawaiian Black live sand, also wet.

Oh that's tough with those photos. I'll guess bryopsis because the filaments look a little more complex than typical gha

Hey thank you for the input. I managed to get some better photos today under different light. Here they are:

Yeah, i can't give you a definite answer but as a lead, look up bryopsis corticulans.. appears to be much more likely than common gha (derbesia).
You could have been vigilant against adding anything with visible algae but you still couldn't have prevented spores from hitching along :/

Hey, I know this is super late but many thanks to everyone. It was indeed Bryopsis. I ended up doing some major water changes, reducing light time and intensity, and getting an emerald crab. It's all gone now, most of which happened before I put in the crab.
