I am looking for an anemone that has that "anemone" look, long flowing tentacles etc. I'd like it to be reefsafe and able to live in a small environment. Anyone have any suggestions? Is this just a pipe dream?

Hello,
IMO best bet for your size setup would be a BTA.
Do lots of research, they are great animals in the right setup.

Hello,
A bubble tip anemone. One of the more hardy anemones kept in captivity, hopefully when you are ready you can find a local reefer trying to get rid of a clone.

BTA (Entacmea quadricolor) is the best bet of the clownfish host anemones. Although the hardiest of the 10 or so host species, it still requires markedly better water quality than saltwater fish (most at least). You will want to read the anemone faq's at the top of this forum, also go to WetWebMedia and search there, and Karen's Rose Anemones. That will help you to decide if you're setup is ready for the demands of a BTA.

FYI no anemone is reef safe although many including me keep them in reef tanks They can harm corals they come into contact with. Be prepared to move the corals out of it's way if it decides to roam. Read as much as you can before you add one (bta) that way you are prepared to give it the best possible care. I usually recomend Karen's site "Caring for these beautiful creatures" It has valuable information and a lot of pictures great for those new to anemone keeping. good luck : )
