What kind of Clown am I?

I was sold a pair of these guys as black Ocellaris a few months ago. But with the yellow face and fins I am thinking they might be Saddle backs.
Any ideas?

I anticipate them to start breeding soon and don't want to misrepresent them.

The picture is of the male. The female although a little bigger looks the same.

looks like saddlebacks to me... my lfs had them marked as black perculas too,, i just politely told them they were idiots..

Thanks Matt.
Have you ever seen any for sale?
I picked up the pair for $35. I think they were priced wrong too.
Are they as rare as I think?
I don't believe I have ever seen any in the Denver LFS's.
They seem as though they are thinking about laying some eggs. They have been cleaning off some different areas in a clay pot and on some rocks but nothing yet. Hopefully soon.

Those are black variant A. Polymnus (Black Saddlebacks). I have seen them at almost all the Denver LFS's at one time or another. They are almost always marked wrong as far as species. Todds Aquatics on E. Hampden gets them in on a regular basis. $35/pr is a reasonable price though.

Could be latz, but no yellow that I can see in the dorsal.

Yes if it's latz they are rare.

Your right, there is no yellow on the dorsal in this picture, but it is clear above the stripe and then goes into black. I think you can see the clear part I'm talking about in this picture.

I wonder if that is yellow and not clear. But appears clear because of the orange background.

If you compare it to the pectoral fin you can see the yellow fade to clear against the orange background.

I will take another look at the dorsal fin when the lights come on tomorrow.

its most definately the black variant of a saddleback... they were marked 32.99 each as black percs, then dropped to 28 each after i told them they were saddlebacks... so 35 for a pair sounds good to me... although my LFS sells everything ridiculously overpriced...

black saddles dont have yellow fins though

Well sure they do. When young they pretty much all have yellow edges on the pectoral fins.

As they get older they lose that yellow sometimes.

Clarkie?? What Clarkie? Who said anything about a Clarkie?

From the pictures I have seen on this thread, these are a black variant of a saddleback.
