what kind of shrimp (brine, mysis, artemia) is this?

I was at my LFS yesterday and they were selling a bag of tiny live shrimp for $1. I asked them what kind and of course the attendant had no clue. Anyway, I bought a cup just to see if my Flame Hawkfish would like them (which he did).
The other fish didn't really seem to care for them however.

They are reddish-orange in color with a long tail. Attached is a crappy cellphone photo. Anyone know what exactly it is?

I had some leftover, so I threw them in an offline refugium where I am cultivating Chaeto and Amphipods. Will these tiny shrimp survive? The amphipods (which are much bigger) seem to pay no attention to them and so far they are co-existing.

Brine shrimp. Artemia is the genus name for brine shrimp.

Yes and yes.

They should survive for their own lifespan. Raising them, although easy, is probably better done in a specific setup (starting with eggs in a separate tank with air bubbler and a way to separate eggs and harvest shrimp).

Thanks guys, I really wasn't sure what they were.

I probably would not buy them again. It was a bit fun to see the Hawkfish pick them off one by one like target-practice, but honestly he prefers grated-up jumbo shrimp over these. The other fish didn't really care about these tiny creatures -- perhaps too small for them.

My refugium has an aerator and I feed it a capful of phtyoplankton so I will see how long these brine shrimp will last. Most likely I will throw in a capful of them into my tank for my hawkfish until they run out.

As long as they have food and a safe place to breed, you will have an unending supply. I have brine growing in my tank, got a bag from algaebarn as a sorry gift from one order that all the pod bags were popped.

I now have a ton of brine shrimp swimming around the tank, But I also have nothing in the tank to eat them either. They are kind of like pods, as long as they have food, safe place to breed, and nothing decimating them, you will always have them.

Shoot I just realized I typed Brine.... Meant Mysis. Was feeding my FW tank some brine. lol Guess it was on my mind.

Funny thing is, I just added a couple fish. One being a yellow coris wrasse. He/she ate all the pods I had crawling all over(80 day fallow period), and these silly little mysis run all over and the wrasse doesn't touch them.

Well, we shall see what happens if they (brine-shrimp) stay alive for awhile. I am more interested in raising Amphipods -- the fish eat those suckers the moment they hit the water.

In addition to one small capful of phytoplankton, I also add a tiny, tiny little pinch of Coral Frenzy which contains the following:
Fish Protein, Oyster Larvae, Salmon Roe, Dunallella Salina, Rotifers, Schizochytrium, Spirulina, Krill, Copepods, Daphnia, & Haematococcus Pluvialis

(I don't know what 1/2 that stuff is, nor know how to say it...but I am assuming it is good to support all marine life).
