What large angel can be added with aggressive Emperor?

Tank is a 7ft 210g. I have a 5" Male Emperor that is changing and very aggressive towards certain angels. I added a coral beauty and a flame angel and they each went unnoticed. I added a bi-color and he tried to kill him relentlessly. All angels were added in the same way, using an acclimation box. Would love to know if anyone has any ideas as to why he only goes after the bi-color. Could it be body shape, color?

I am looking to add 1 more large angel (preference would be Queen, Majestic or blueface) to the tank, is there one that is known to get along with / hold its own with an Emperor? I would hate to add a large expensive fish only to have to remove and risk a death.

It is hard to say, sometimes an individual fish just chooses to dislike a certain fish for no particular reason.
I'd get the new fish as a juvi 1-3" and let him grow up with the emp. I've had the best luck mixing angels when they have significantly different sizes. I'd skip the queen just because it would be the most likely to challange your emp later in life when they are of equal size.

Definitely not the Navarchus, a blue face, passer, koran, french should all hold their own. A queen will get too large for your tank.

My Blue Face Angel is an absolute terror.I got him when he was about 3 inches, he's now 7-8 inches in a 180 gallon. I'm going to find him a new home soon, the tanks starting to look too small for him.I got into Fowlr because the Blue Face is my favorite fish.Mine turned very aggresive

Perhaps an annularis might work. This worked for me in the past for a couple years in a 180. The annularis was a lot more shy than the imperator but remained the dominant fish. Both started out around 4-5 inches, and grew to around 8-9, before I moved and traded them in to my LFS. Also, at the larger size, annularis angels get a beautiful golden background color to them that is rarely seen in the usually encountered smaller specimens.

In a 210g, I doubt the emperor will accommodate another large angel on a long-term basis. It's just not really big enough to peacefully house two similar large angels together. Ask me how I know? When I had my 12" French in my old 225g, I tried introducing a 4" emperor, and immediately the French went out to kill him (not just harassing, but literally trying to kill). I removed the emperor back into the QT for 2 more months until I set up my 8' 375g, and put both the French and emperor in at the same time. They have been co-existing peacefully ever since. The emperor grew 2" in the last year and is now 7".

Of course, things could change once the emperor becomes a full adult, maybe around 10" or so.

I wish I had the ability to add both at the same time as I am pretty sure that would solve my problems. I was thinking of trying to catch the emperor and putting him in the acclimation box for a few weeks until the new angel got settled in, then release the emperor back in.

I think there's always a bit of luck involved. That being said, larger volumes of water tend to provide larger amounts of luck.

I agree. Each individual behaves different. However, aggression dictated by genetics always exists to some degree, and this is where tank size helps.
