What lens for Nikon?

I ordered a lens for my D50 and then I recieved an email from sigma4less saying that the one I ordered was for a sigma camera not a Nikon. So I might wait until they get more of those lenses with the Nikon mount or order a new lens. What would be a good lens that's not too expensive for my D50? I will mostly be using it for my tank and want to take close up pics. thanks

i have never ordered from sigma4less, but i have not heard good things about them...

I have ordered from bhphoto.com (USA models on Nikon only), 17photo.com, and I highly recommend both.

An excellent "budget" model lens for all around photography and fish tank photography is the nikkor 28-105mm (bh has it for about 250.00) or you can go even cheaper and get the nikkor 50mm f1.8D, and if you already have the "kit" lens (is this the 28-80? garbage, or the 18-55? not so bad for the price) and can spend a little extra cash. Get one of the dedicated macro lenses sigma's 50, 70 or 105mm are all relatively cheap and good.

Tamron has some nice macro lenses from what I have been told. Look into them.

B&H or Cameta Camera are good places to order from.

I have the Nikon 28-105mm and it's a pretty good "all around" lens. Not the best but definitely not bad. The macro is only like 1:2 I think though...little switch you have to flip on the lens barrel to put it into macro mode.

Also have the 50mm f/1.8 but have never used it for "macro" type work. Couldn't tell you how it does but for the price it's a nice little lens to have in your bag especially considering it's only like $100.

I have the 50mm f1.8 and the 28-105mm. The 50 is good for photographing fish because it is both sharp and "fast" meaning it performs well in low light situations... here are some examples:

Thanks for the help VoidRaven, I will look into those lenses you mentioned, especially the 50mm one.

VillageIdiot- I ordered my D50 from bhphotovideo.com and the lens from sigma4less.com. I read some good revies on resellerratings saying that it is a good store.

And thanks for the lens reccomendations, I will look into those also.
