Thanks Umm Fish, I was gonn ask if the lense was good for other types of shots... What other types of shot will this lense excel at?

:) It is a great lens - one of the handful of lenses that just about everybody can find a use for at some point. Especially since it doubles as an extremely sharp 100mm prime.

It works with anything not requiring a different focal length or accurate auto focus basically. Auto focusing from a distance should be accurate enough but still relatively slow. I wouldn't track a bird with it unless your very good at manual focus. Some complain this lens is too sharp for portraits because it tends to reveal blemishes on the face you may not have even seen with the naked eye. Of course a little Photoshop can blur out some black heads very effectively.

I love my Canon 100mm f2.8! These were literally some of the first shots I took with it out of the box.

It's also great for portraits as well.

It's a great lens. I use it all the time.

I'm looking into extension tubes also. Thinking of the 25II. I think canon air has more clarity, Doug.

Kidding. :D
