What Light Timer is Everyone Using?

I use a CoraLife timer and it's not caused any problems for over a year, but I bought it when I was a total newbie and paid way too much for what you get. Ace Hardware or Home Depot's the way to go, IMO.

Can't beat digital. I switched to it after having gone through 3 Coralife power strip timers.....JUNK! The digital has been working flawlessly since then. Oh yes......and PLEASE USE GFCI'S (Minh, just thought it was my turn to hammer the message). In fact, GFCI's could be part of the raffle at meetings. It's a small investment for protection of life and property!!!

As far as the GFCI's go. Do I just have to replace the outlet with a GFCI outlet, or is there more too it. I'm in an apartment and don't really want to do any rewireing beyone just changeing out the outlet.

You don't even need to change the outlet. Simply buy a plug-in GFCI. The device plugs into the wall outlet, and your device plugs into it. They're pretty inexpensive these days as well.

David -

Installing a GFCI is really easy. You can also go the route that Mike (Wee-Reef master) has done. I use one of those at my office tank since I am not allowed to rewire my office. :P

Just something to consider: A while back, I accidently spilled water onto a surge supressor. The surge supressor was plugged into one of those plugin GFCI things. Anyway - when I spilled water, the power was cut. When I looked athe GFCI plugin thing, it wasn't tripped though. I finally found out that I was downstream of another GFCI wall outlet. So the wall outlet GFCI killed power before the plug in one. Just something to consider.
