What lighting do you have over your zoo's?

I'm just curious due to some observations I've made lately w/ my zoo's. I have some AOG's that do not like being placed high in my tank. I slowly acclimated them to my lights and then slowly moved them up the water column. But once they got a little off the sandbed they started closing up and would not open until they were back on the sandbed (w/in a few minutes).

My tank is a 10gal. w/ a single 175w MH w/ a 14k Hamilton. The light is mounted in a PFO pendant and is a little less then 4" off the waters surface.

So, what are you guys and gals light schemes and tank sizes? Where are you zoo's in your tank (high, med, or low). TIA.

I have 3 frags of True AOGs under T5s.. and a buddy of mine has them 6" or so under 250 mhs... and theyre super bright..

acclimation is the key start them at the bottom then gradually bring them up as time goes.. they zoos will show wether they're happy or not.

Just put a 150 watt 14k HQI over 1 half of my 60 gallon long.
My snake polyps are finally opening up !
After two years of being closed ! LOL !
under 250 watts of pc...
My other zoas are expanding more as well

ps. zoa's are on the bottom, the light is about 7 inch's away from surface and the tank is 16 inch's deep, and i fill right up to the top, just under the center brace.

Hey Kaos, I have a frag of AOG`s and just like yours if I place them higher in the tank the open but not as full... I placed them on the sand bed and in a matter of a week I saw 2 new buds and they are open as full as can be...

A 10 gallon with a 175 is a good amount of light... Is the bulb centered in the tank? I would just leave them alone and see if they grow for you like they are growing for me...

Yes, the bulb is centered over the tank. As wierd as it sounds they seem to like to be on the sandbed w/ a lot of flow. They are right were my AC500 fuge discharges.

If they like it there then dont move them... Some dont like them being on the sand bed but it is the best for the zoos... Those AOG`s look amazing under Actinics...

2 X 250 Watt HQI and 110 Watts T5 I have concluded this is a bit too much light for my zoas and palys. It is easier to manage them in tanks with moderate PC lights. Even T5 lights are better.
