Currently I run 2 kessil A350W over a 48" x 20" x 18" and it is mostly lps dominated. However, the tank is ~5 months old (20 months old for rock, as well as most coral and fish as they were transferred over from a 60 cube) and I placed all LPS with sweepers on the half with lower flow (mostly for their own benefit) now I would like to start adding a few millipora and staghorns to the other half. However, my experience has been that while quality LEDs will grow SPS (especially with my tank being shallow) that they tend to have some color fading (mostly reds and pinks turn to orange or a dull maroon).
So I have been looking at three options:
I plan to upgrade my Kessils to the newer controllable 160's and use 3 of them with two 150 watt 14k radiums
Or upgrade to two Kessil A360WE with 4 39 watt T5 (yes that's 3 foot bulbs over a 4 foot tank, but my tank is rimless an I am getting a suspended wall mounted canopy that for aesthetic purposes will be just over 3 foot)
Or keep my current Kessils (they still work just fine and the ramping feature doesn't really matter to me) with 6 39 watt T5 (to make up for the fact that the older kessil units put out a little less power)
