what macro algae for a refugium?

howdy all.
i was wondering what type of macro algae everyone considers as the best for refugiums? i read somewhere that calupra goes through a cell die off if not lit for 24 hours a day and that chaeto doesnt? any truth to that? also which one do you think soaks up more excess nutrient ?

cheatomorpha is rootless, and one of the best.

I second the Chaeto. It doesn't go sexual like caulerpa. And, like Sk8r said, it won't take root like chaeto or halimeda.

so should i run the chaeto on a reverse light cycle from the tank?

That is what seems to be recommended. I do not know the specifics but doing a reverse photo period helps stabilize the pH balance. Maybe someone with more knowledge will explain further.
