WHAT MAKES PH DROP IN MY TANK? IT WAS AT 8.1 AND NOW IT DROPPED TO ABOUT 7.8. WHAT CAUSES THIS AND HOW CAN I BRING IT BACK UP?

lets see, you live in Florida so your windows are closed now. your co2 level in the house is higher then it was a few months ago because your windows are closed
PH fluctuates throughout the day ... highest point being right before you turn the lights out and the lowest right before you turn the lights on. Most of that fluctuation is due to the impact of photosynthisis on algae where algae generate oxygen when the lights are on and CO2 when the lights are off. CO2 forms carbonic acid which depresses PH.Originally posted by currentking
