well my gf picked up a true percula yesterday morning. it spent the entire day and last night hovering at the top of the tank around the skimmer return. but this morning about an hour after lights on, he started to get curious. he's swimming down and hovering above a frogspawn and still periodically returning to his spot at the top of the tank. what is he doing? is this typical behavior? anything i can do to make him alittle more comfortable?
btw fish list includes
3 green chromis
1 bi-colored blenny
1 bi-colored gramma
all fish are very passive and havent been bothering the perc at all.

yeah, he's been taking offerings of formula 2 and finely diced squid.
is he checking out the frogspawn as a place to host? how long does it typically take for a perc to start to host?
sorry, im probably over reacting, but to me if a fish isnt leaving the surface much, it makes me nervous.

Give him time he will adjust. My gf bought an occy just under two weeks ago. She still hides in the top corner near an outlet aswell. lol.

But she has started getting more and more active. Explores heaps. Is now eating like a pig and has been looking at my torch coral a bit. Hopefully she will host it soon but it is all questionable. Some clowns will host in a matter of minutes... others in a matter of months.

When you feed try to squirt the food into / around the frogspawn so he has to go to the frogspawn to feed.

Also you can try buying a small clownfish toy and placing it in the frogspawn.

A combination of those two techniques should hopefully get him to host.

Good luck!
