what other ways to grow sps without calcium reactor? can you still have good growth from sps?

For smaller tanks, a fair # of folks use Ca/Alk 2-part [or 3part] suppliments.

There's a couple good threads of it from a month or two back.

Before my CR I dripped kalk. CR's are great because they are stable and when set up right, one less thing to mess with. By no means do you have to have one to be sucessful with SPS.

I use kalk, and on a rare occasion I have to give it a boost with a DIY 2-part

Yep! Makeup water is all Mrs. Wages Pickling Lime.. 8 teaspoons for 5 gallons of makeup RO/DI water.. Works PERECT! Alk and Calcium stay in check.

I have a 52, and I dose the topoff water with buffer, and hand-add the cal. It's demands aren't high: my corals are small. But they're growing better than I'd expected.
