I have a 12 gal aquapod that has been set up for almost 6 months. I have about 5 lbs of live rock and things are shaping up. I am looking forwared to adding coral soon. Until that time I want a little more to observe.

I am looking for suggestions! Here is what I have now

Maroon Clown
Peppermint shrimp
3 blue legged hermits
3 snails(small ones, dont know the names)
Mexican turbo snail

The clown stays up in the corner and doesnt swim around the rocks. Peppermint shrimp stays hidden most of the time. The most action I get is from one of the hermit crabs who has grown amazingly quick and upgraded shells.

Ideas

If you are asking about putting another fish in there then I would get rid of the maroon clown first.

good starter corals are softies. xenia, mushrooms, zoo's. check liveaquria nano starter packs. They are pretty indistructable.
also very small lps--frogspawn (stings other corals), brain, hammer, etc...

haha, yeah, I think it has doubled in size in 6 months. Should I replace with a (please excuse my lack of knowledge) nemo clown?

I'll third the clown removal. It's also easier to get him out now before you cram your tank full of stuff. A Percula clown "nemo" is a good choice.

Stick with easy corals to start, if you want color get some mushrooms or Ricordia's.

ok, percula clown sounds like a good choice...that will be the least combative way to convince my 4 year old to get rid of "fleni" our maroon clown. I can absolutely sell him on the Nemo deal.

Personally, I'd sell the Maroon back to the store and scrap the idea of having fish until you get more Live Rock. I would say that you should have about 15lbs in there. If not that, get some base rock and let the coraline grow over it in the next 6 months. While you wait I'm sure you could pack the thing out with corals. The less bioload you have in the beginning the happier you're probably going to be. JMO. Have fun! :)

haha Rosseau I think its Dory and yeah down the road I can see the investment in a bigger tank.

Kaserpick I like your suggestion. Now that I calculate the live rock better I probably have close to 10 lbs. I have a large base piece that might go 5 lbs. I am going to attempt to catch the maroon tomorrow(without a net) and we are going to look at some small nemo type clowns. I have recently worked on getting my calcium levels up and the coraline algae is really coming on now.
