What should I do?

I have a rock that has Encrusting Montipora on one half and Dragon Eyes zoa on the other. I'm trying to decided what to do with it. Should I chisel off the zoa? Try to break the rock along the divide? Just leave them be?

Any suggestions?

I think I'd try to remove the zoas if you don't want them on there.

usually if left alone the zoo's will actually take over and sting the monti. we had a small rock where the zoo's had even came up threw the bottom of an encrusting monti and had made a perfect circle and started to take over the monti's spot. Amazing how week a hard coral can be ! So if you like the monti I would seperate them one way or another.

Ok, so I need to break this in half. There is a problem... I know I don't have the skills needed to do this. They are growing together along the length of the rock and I can't even begin to think of a way to do this.

So, does anyone want to help me?

You can't remove the zoas from the rock without splitting it?

you wont believe how easy it is to break live rock, just get a chisel or screwdriver (might ruin the screwdriver) and with about medium strength hit it wiht a hammer

live rock is incredibly easy to break

This has been my experience as well, however, my rock has always been notorious for breaking everywhere but where I wanted it to break, even when I've tried to drill holes and score it where I wanted the break to occur. I was a bit concerned with this approach considering there is an encrusting coral on this rock and I wouldn't want to take a chance of cracking through it as well. However, I don't know how extensive these zoas are on the rock, but I'd try removing those if possible first before I'd try to crack that rock....IMHO of course.
