I have a 90 gallon with a 30 gallon sump. What skimmer do you recommend that will last? Im currently running a downdraft ETSS but, having problem balancing the foam. Thinking about getting a new skimmer. Let me know. The price is not an issue as long as it does its job well.

Thanks

there are many options. What size availability do you have? MSX are worht the $ right now.

msx 160 with pinwheel would be nice, but the msx200 is only a few bucks more so that would work also. i had the same setup and the 200 model has a tough time fitting into the sump if your sump is in the stand. it "fits" but the problem is that they will not fit in a standard stand door and go over the edge of the sump. if it is confusing just bust out a measuring tape and make sure you can get it into the sump. also check out the octopus NW-150 i love that skimmer and i ran one on my 90 for a long time and it kicked butt. but i dont like the new redesign of the "funnel neck", so if you can get an older model that would be best. you can also look into vertex skimmers they are like a knockoff of euro reef skimmer, but i think people might be having issues with the pumps. and the last skimmers i woud recomend that are good units are the bubble magus, google the name and check them out. here are some links

this is virtually the same skimmer as the msx-200

euro reef are nice skimmers. alot of people use them, the vertex uses a simular body design, but the pumps on the euro reef are probably nicer. i run the msx 200 on my system that now is about 150 total volume. i run the pinwheel and have great results.

What ETSS and pump are you using? The larger ETSS, for me, are pretty much set and go as long as you have the right size pump. I never have foam fluctuation unless the neck needs cleaning. good luck

I picked up an MSX250 for my 180 and it really pulls
out some nasty poo (and I'm running the pinwheels).

The MSX company is great to deal with as well.

So I'd say go with the MSX200 for your 90.

hay guys i am new to the forum and am looking for a skimmer for my new tank. i am building a 400 gallon all sps reef. i have a new AETECH E.T.S.S. 800XR. any thoughts
good bad other. will it be enough? i thought about putting two of these on it.

thanks for the help

If price is no issue check out the Bubble King Mini. I run the Mini 180 on my 90gal and it pulls out some serious gunk.

Best bang for your buck is the octopus extreme 160. I am running it on a 90 gallon and it works incredible. Easy to dial in too! worth every penny!
