Hi, I asked in "filtration" with a few suggestions for reef-life skimmers. I thought I'd go to the source. Tank in question is about 450 gallons total volume, 150 are sumps. The tank houses corals and predators :/ . So nutrients are high and the system is currently under skimmed. I'm not convinced the reef-life will work on this system since the sumps and plumbing are not easily dismantled to drill the sump for an external skimmer. With this in mind I was considering a Aquamaxx Q5. Any input, suggestions are welcome, thanks.

Might look into a hydor performer 2005. Recirculating skimmer can go internal or external and water level doesn't matter I run the 1005 and am pleased with it

Mine is....big. Powered by 4 recirculating needle wheel Sedra 9000s and gravity fed by the flow from one of my two overflows driven by my Dart return pump. That would make it...oh..450gal/hr of feed.

From memory...12" diameter by 48" high....

SRO SSS5000INT its a beast... huge collection cup, dead silent, wide range gate valve, I upgraded from a Vertex 180.. completely changed the health of my system.. my total water volume is around 300g.. I bought this to use on my current system but big enough to work on my next which im planning 500g

I have a custom built Geo skimmer that handles my 720g with ease. If money and space are no issue I would go with a RK2

Thanks for the helpful input, anyone use a MRC recirculation model? If it's a good performer, the fact of using a Mag drive feeder pump removes the issue of emptying the sumps and drilling another bulk head, for a style that is not recirculation.

CPR Bak Pak :) On my 40 breeder.

On my 100, I used a Life Reef. It is currently in storage and will be used on my 240 gallon. Great product, works, no need to change.

I have a 420 display with a 180 sump....after trying Bubble Magnus which I hated...I went with Reef Octopus SRO 12" 6000sss...it works great and I am very pleased how well it skims..

I build all mine uploadfromtaptalk1456079973007.jpg this one is a beckett version. Good for 200 gal.
The big oe can handle 500 easy. Dual beckett uploadfromtaptalk1456080185378.jpg

I run an old ATI Bubblemaster that has 2 Sicce pumps powering it, 375G display and 200g sump/fuge, although I think it's a bit under powered for the job.
