Well, Aquarium Adventures now says they CAN'T get me 150 Xhigh reef-ready anytime soon. Can anyone suggest another store in the greater Cleveland/Akron area that might have one?

I know it not in Cleveland area but they shipp and you are paying for shipping 1 way or another

I have an empty 90 i'll sell cheap..pm me if your interested..

You can also try RMS.. They usually have a pretty good selection of tanks..

Not to complicate things more, but on a 150g high, wouldn't you need to replace your lights anyway? Thats a deep tank. I have a 5 T5 setup on my 72g and I can't do high light critters or corals on the sand. I would think your 4 VHO would leave the last 12" of the 150 high pretty dim.

RMS doesn't sell perfecto, and perfecto is the only company who makes 150 Xhigh.

I have been using 4x110 VHO's on a 72, and it has been adequate for open brain and tongue corals on the bottom, and torches, trumpets and frogspawns about halfway up. In fact, I had put the pinapple too high when I first got it, and it started to turn pale and retract. I had to move it down. I don't mess with SPS corals, only LPS, and they just don't need as much light. In fact, I think people sometimes kill LPS by burning them. The one thing I have which requires good light is the crocea clam, and I keep it within a foot of the surface.

Eventually, I do plan to add some PC's or T5's. or maybe some lower wattage HQI's, but I just don't like the high wattage, high heat MH's.

Just so you know, the 150 extra high from Perfecto has a bad reputation. It is one of those designs that tends to leak.

That's definitely not what he wants to hear!!!!!!!!

After all of that, I'd got with a cheap 90 if you want to stick with a 4-footer. Wanna go 6 feet, call me!

Wow, you're right! That's not what I want to hear! Is that still a current problem, or just a past issue? That's really the tank I'd like, but not if it will leak. Maybe I should just go for an All-Glass 120 (or pinch my pennies for an Oceanic 140).

The standard 120's by Perfecto, All-Glass, or Oceanic (~ 24" x 24" x 48") are much more reliable. I actually have a Perfecto 120 myself. But, all those extra high tanks are more prone to leak than others due to the extra high water volume exerting additional pressure on the bottom seams.
