good evening,
what test kits for nitrate and phosphor you guys recommend? I use API for Ca++ and alkalinity, and salifert for Mg++.
I plan SPS based reef.
Thank you
Hanna 736ulr checker for phosphorus. This is the one you want as it is a low enough range to be helpful. It measures ppb phosphorus so to get ppm phosphate it takes a conversion. (number displayed X 3.066)/1000
For PO4 I use Elos and API (as the average PO4 level on reefs is .13 mg/l if it doesn't read at least a couple steps up on the Elos it's too low and Elos has readings in both PO4 and total phosphorus).
The ulr phosphorous checker from Hanna is good for phosphate, IMO. I also use the Red Sea pro for Nitrate (Works better than the regular Red Sea version.)
IME any of the Nitrate test kits on the market will suffice. I'm not really sure about the Phosphate test kits though. I just figure if you've got algae growth you've got Phosphates. No need to put a number on it. The remedy is the same no matter what.
