I am sure this was discussed somewhere! I tried searching with no luck. I have heard of placing an icecube against the foot and then quickly taking it away. This causes the foot to retract enough to get a credit card under it to gently pry it from the rock. I am picking one up on Sunday and want to make sure it doesn't get damaged while removing it from the rock it is attached to. If this is discussed in another thread please link me to it.

You can't just take the whole rock? 
If it's on a rock the credit card trick might do more damage than help...only time i've ever seen this advised is for when it's on the glass.
One of the other methods is to aim a powerhead towards its foot, being VERY careful that the flow isn't strong enough to damage the flesh. Sometimes this will irritate it enough that it'll release or move.
Then again, it may be stubborn and decide it really likes the rock.

Indymatt, the way you described is exactly the method I used on Wednesday. I used a couple pieces of ice, about 3 minutes worth, then, with the credit card, I managed to raise up a very small portion of the foot. Then, with your fingers, gently work with that flap of foot till you get it loose.
It took me about 10 minutes to get this one up. The method works, just don't get in any hurry.

I've got an RBTA attached to the overflow I'd like to remove. The surface is smooth and I thought I might be able to get a razor blade under the lip of the foot, then try to gently work it off. Thoughts on this, or other suggestions?

Don't use a razor blade, you will likely cut the foot. Use your fingernail.
