What the heck is this?

Noticed something weird tonight? Some type of sea hare?

Looks like a snail without a shell?

Skudus, elephant limpets, Stomatella they have many names. I have a few but will soon probably have a bunch. Saw something strange last night and after a closer look little puffs of eggs and sperm were released by them.

They readily bread in aquariums and are a sign of good water chemistry. Dont pull at them - you will quickly split the thumbnail style shell off their body.

Noticed these guys have been multiplying, which is fine by me. Although, I woke up early this morning and looked at my tank and there are hundreds of these guys ou all over the place. Even though they're not a threat, should I do something to control their rapid breeding? Could it eventually turn into something bad?

Leave them be. They will self regulate their population. I had tons in my tank for a while then they slowly just disappeared. They are excellent cleaners.

lol im a sucker for these guys and try to save them whenever I break down a tank or even changing filter socks, since they seem to love those.

If you get a bunch of them, I'd be happy to take some off your hands, I love them! I don't have any yet in my new tank.
