I have a question for all of you clown experts....
One of my female Ocellairs has been acting very strange lately....
Now I understand that it is normal for clowns to act crazy when they are spawning, my Maroons threw rocks around they tank pre-spawn..lol
However I am not sure if this is what I am seeing or not...anyway the femal and to a much lesser degree the male are bite the tan walls...seems like normal prespawning behavior right? Well latley she has been biting the water right at the water line on the surface and splashing water making lots of noise and when she bites the tank it is so loud you can actually hear the tank sort of shake or something...What's worse is she does it for almost five minutes straight when the light goes out and it is so weird.....At first I thought maybe I wasn't feeding them enough and she was just looking for food but I keep them stuffed to the gills with all kinds of good stuff...so what do you guys think is going on?
If it helps the pair is in a bare ten gallon save for the tile house in the corner and a small piece of live rock, they get 14 hours of light a day 3 dependable regular feedings. Water quality is excellent and apart from the fact that it seems like recently the male has been sleeping near the surface of the water the pair gets along really well and they seem inseperable...is it possible that the tank may be to small and the female is just frusturated? Seems unlikely but none the less possible...
Thanx in advance,
