What to buy first

I have a cube that I will start to cycle soon. Im wondering what I should buy first.

1) Vortech pumps
2) Skimmer
3) Lighting

I dont have the cash to buy all 3, so im buying them every 2 weeks. Just not sure the order in what to buy them. For cycle purposes.

I would purchase the skimmer, vortechs and then the lights.

Def the skimmer and don't skimp on it trying to rush the vortechs.
Depending on what you want to keep and what your return pump pushes out you might be able to hold off on the vortechs until you start adding coral.

another vote for the skimmer. And whatever you do, don't skimp on the skimmmer. I went cheap the first time around and I just ended up buying the better one later. Do you have thoughts on what skimmer you want?

Have you bought an RODI first? Thats what i'd get first, then the skimmer, then lights. Although its kinda tough without a skimmer and lights : ) Powerheads can be bought pretty cheap these days and gradually updated. Skimmers and lights cannot.

I agree on RO/DI unit FIRST, followed by a GOOD skimmer, then lights, and finally pumps...

Yes, an RO/DI unit is definitely the first purchase.

RO/DI: Start with great water quality
Skimmer: Maintain great water quality
Flow: Keep the corals happy
Lighting: get some nice lighting and watch them grow
