There is a frag swap coming up here in chattanooga next month and I would like to be able to dip any corals I may buy. What do you guys/gals recommend for a LPS coral dip?

I am not a proponent of profolactic dipping...
That being said if there is a "need" to dip the coral, hypo-salinity (1.020 or lower) will work to know off a lot of unwanted nasties.
Also Kent has a treatment they call Tech-D, I have used it successfully to treat a brown jelly infection.
I always try to match the temp. & pH of the dipping solution just to minimize stress.

I've used TMPCC to dip a Pavona, Leptastrea, Acan lords and an echinata, and a mycedium. They showed no ill effects. I likely went light on them by instructions, but not by much. After having the whole slough of bugs, I dip and QT everything. Kinda takes some of the fun out of it, but I ain't having fun with the after the fact treatments, either... TMPCC is made for acros (specifically mentioned on label), so use on anything else would be considered at own risk (gotta love disclaimers

Kent carries an iodine product called Lugol's solution. It is a very concentrated iodine and is excellent at ridding lps of parasites. You can make a dip with it, and you can also use a pipette to drop it directly into the tank, especially over leathers and softies. Good pharmacies will carry lugols's solution, and it will save you some money.

I agree with porky,I will not dip LPS corals unless there is a known pathogen/disease affecting it.Especially with newly arrived corals,they are already stressed as it is.Useing iodine and/or other dips can only add to that stress.I feel its best to acclimate them to your tank water in a q-tinel tank and observe them for a week(I dont even bother doing this).I've been keeping LPS for several yrs now and have never introduced a bug/pathogen into my tank by not dipping them.Now,with SPS corals like Acropora and Montipora,it has become a necessity to dip/treat for redbugs/FW's.

My paranoia comes from a Red Bug or AEFW hitching along with the LPS. I know it is a long shot, but when the acros came out of the display, the AEFW were moving all around the tank (bare glass all over, so I could see them trucking around the glass-not to mention the swimming prowess of red bugs)). I'm just gunshy right now. I've had them all, now, except zoa predators and I have been QT'ing sps for at least a year now (just not necessarily for the correct things until lately-didn't know what all was out there to eat my livestock)...

I guees I am just being paranoid - It sounds like maybe just putting them in QT for a week or so would be the best bet. Thanks for everyones input.
