What to do about maxijet pump leaking on floor

Dang...I just noticed salt creep on my hard wood floor behind the tank. I traced it back to the Maxijet 1200 pump I have running to my chiller. I had to place it outside the sump because it was too large to fit inside of it. Ken at AC rigged it up for me to step the outgoing valve to the chiller to a 1/2 inch piping with a few plastic reducing hose pieces...stepping it down to the right size. Now it's leaking...what do yo guys think I should do? Got a towel under it for now and it's turned off...Gonna need it to get water to the chiller....

Probably get another one, man. :) I don't think I'd use one externally, though. They are supposed to be able to, but it doesn't sound to promising from your results! :)

You may want to look into an alternative pump as well. Maybe get a new maxijet for now and then figure out if a different pump may serve you better, such as a MAG of some sort.

At the same time, can you tell where its leaking from exactly? You may be able to just tighten something up to get it to stop.

Yeah sounds like prob a good idea...that pump is rated too high...problem now is where to put it. In this little nano tank I have another pump already in the sump for the protein skimmer the other sections of the sump have the power heads in them....can you get a pump to run both the water to the chiller and skimmer?

Don't think you could find one that would do both as the skimmer is probably using a venturi to produce bubbles. At the same time, I'm not a nano guy (yet ;) ) so I'm not really sure!
