okay so about 2 years i have had a 30g with a Scopas (just removed because of size and agression all of a sudden, he killed a six-line and a hawkfish that i tried to add.) I also have a 2-2.5 inch percula clown, a neon damsel (3-3.5 in.), and a 2.5 inch firefish. I have had these fish for about 2 years now and i tried to add the six-line about 2 weeks ago. in 2 days i couldnt find him, i have given up, he is gone. then i tried to add a long-nosed hawkfish about a week ago. i acclimated him fine, and before i left for work i noticed the scopas attacking him, picking at his tail and top fins. i came home and he was dead. it all clicked. the scopas was the killer of the six line, and now the hawk. The tang was too big for the tank anyway so i took him to the lfs and gavce him a better home hopefully. today i woke up, and noticed that my firefish was GONE...looked THOROUGHLY around everywhere...NOTHING. i have completely run out of ideas of what happened. could it have been the damsel and not the tang. I'm still happy the tang is gone because 1. he was too agressive to new fish. 2. too big for a 30g. 3. took alot of bioload so it wasn't a bad move even if he wasn't the culprit. my water quality is all fine except the nitrates, they are high becuase my tank was at my dads, i moved it and i think he was filling it with tap water and what not but i have begun lowering them...PLEASE HELP. What is happening to my fish??? my tank has been so good for so long...Thanks guys!

Could they be jumping? These are all fish that are known to jump. Is there a canopy? So your not finding the bones even?

not finding any bones, pretty much no way they could get out no canopy, a hood though one small hole in top for heater, but i dont see anyway possible that couldve happened. and another small one for the HOB filter. i cant see them jumping, plus i checked all around nothing was found.

false alarm my friends, i just walked into my room and there he is, swimming like nothing happened...my mom checked on my tank all day today and never saw him once...i guess he just burrowed REALLLY WELLL this time.
