What to do with large oscar?

I have him in a 75g tank and he is getting too big. I bigger tank is out of the question.

I am finding it impossible to keep its water clean. I do 30g water changes every 2 weeks and it is not enough.

Does anyone know if the zoo will take it? It is a beautiful fish.

Zoo may not take it but I would check with Atlantis Aquarium that is on Long Island, I know they have an impressive Freshwater setup! Look for JustJoe on RC he is the Curator.

Seriously though, I really do doubt that the PPG aquarium will take it, but I will ask Rich. Sometimes fish stores will take these kinds of fish off your hands, but beware that some will simply euthenize them.

I would not give it to a pet store since it would most likely be in a smaller tank and who knows who would buy it.

It is zoo or frying pan...I mean I will keep it if the zoo wouldn't take it.....

wilkinsburgh aquarium has (i think its 400 gallons ) display tank.He gets alot people in that buy 220's and want large fish.

I sold an 18" red tail catfish to Wilkinsburg many years ago. That's a decent place to try for your oscar.

if you aren't joking about eating the fish
if you ever treated the fish for anything like ich it will make you very sick or worse atleast that is was is one the back of the bottle but either way good luck

elmers has a 220 gallon tank they would take him i bet they took my channel cat when it got to big
