What to Do!!!!???

Hey guys, here's my predicament.

On 7/31/03 I order a light hood for one of my tanks. On 8/1/03 I got a confirmation of shipment and a tracking number.

I kept tracking the package to make sure of delivery on the stated time and sure enough, all things were good to go.

So on 8/5 (delivery scheduled for 8/6) I ordered livestock for this tank, expecting the lights to arrive on the same day.

Here's the rub. I just got an email, 4 days after shipment confirmation, that you didn't ship the lights and they woudl be backordered for 2 to 3 weeks!!!

Why couldn't you tell me that you didn't ship them the day your email told me they were indeed shipped?

I have spent thousands with marine depot. This is my first complaint but it really puts me in a bad spot.

What the heck am I going to do with this livestock for 2-3 weeks!?

Hello? I guess I'm not going to even get an I'm sorry?

Not trying to be an *** but telling me you aren't shipping the lights 4 days after me getting a shipping confirmation rubs me the wrong way.

What I have done is put my livestock under normal fluorescent lighting (costing me to the tune of $75).

Offering to ship me a temp lighting setup due to your mixup would have been very nice or even a store credit for the extra expense I have incurred.

Its not like you haven't been to this forum since I posted.

Hi JPerkins,

I have also had shipping problems with MD in the past (due to backordered items), and find that I get the best response if I call. In fact, you should request a tracking number to make sure that your item has shipped.

Not to say that they shouldn't check the RC channel - they certainly should, to avoid any bad vibes in the RC community. I guess they just fall behind sometimes.

Cheers,

Give 'em a call about your problem. I'm sure if they can get your product to you sooner they will do their best. I needed some product from them in a rush (same day, pump problem). I met one of the fellas there after hours (I had to work late that day) and he handed me my product, had I waited for the shipment the next day I would have lost all my L/S.

Did it show that the package ever made it out of CA?

rmendis: I did indeed get a tracking number. That is what is disappointing. I thought I did everything right. I waited until I got shipment conf. # before I ordered my livestock.

On the day before delivery I got an email stating that everything shipped but the lights.

How hard to notify customer that shipment is short when they ship it? Instead I got notice on the day before delivery, four days after the tracking # was received.

I also didn't get a response back from my email.

DiscoToo: I wish I could walk down to MD and get my stuff heh. I guess I have the problem under control now but I am out $75 for temp lighting and very inconvenienced since I had to re-arrange my setup to accomodate the temp lighting and will have to re-arrange again when they lights get here.

Hi James,

I actually responded to your email personally on the 6th at 12:27PM ( about an hour after receiving your email). Please check your emails from that day: perhaps it was missed as it was part of a thread.

If you did not get that email, please let me know via email (sales@marinedepot.com), or give me a call at 714.-385-0080 ext. 53.

I did offer you a couple of different options and was waiting to hear back from you to see how you would like to proceed. We would definitely not ignore our customers' emails and make you wait 3-4 days to get a response.

Sincerely,
Joseph

The only email I received was from Joann on 8/5/03.

8/6/03 is when I received my partial order.

I will attempt to call after I get off work since work frowns on me using long distance for personal calls.

Please re-send the email if you can.

Marine Depot has offered me a $30 store credit for the mixup.

Once again I am happy with Marine Depot. I'm glad too because I just wouldn't know where else to get my drygoods.

Just wanted to update everyone. I got my CSL hood and Marine Depot automatically applied the credit without any input on my part. (Its a very nice hood)

Good Work Marine Depot.

To show my gratitude, I just ordered another $1000 from them heh. :D
