What To Feed A Yellow Tang

I recently aquired a beautiful healthy yellow tang. It is my first surgeonfish and I want to keep it health and well fed. I have been feeding it mysis shrimp and it eats it with gusto. My question is that I know they feed on algae in the wild and I want to feed it a balanced diet.

Could I feed it any type of lettuce? Instead of nori which I do not have at the moment, but will pick up soon.

Thank You

I had one that loved Broccoli! just the little buds, I kinda blanched it so it would be softer. It ate it right up! goodluck. Two little Fishies makes a real nice magnetic clip that will hold your algae sheets in the tank without you having to get your hands all wet with a suction cup. Works Great. Have Fun

Ocean Nutrition makes Formula Two flakes for tangs and other herbivorous fish... I use it along with NLS pellets, nori, and frozen mysis for my tangs.

I feed my tang pe mysis and brine like you
For algae intake (besides grazing) i would strongly recommend AquaCulture NEW ERA Algal Pellets....they make other items too but i like the pellets because they dont dissolve as much into the water and drop right to the bottome....best response ive ever had besides the shrimp foods and thats from all fish and my cleaner shrimp
