if a fish diet description says "feeds on zooplankton", what exactly do I feed it?

http://www.marinecenter.com/fish/anthias/purplequeenanthias/

the fish was eating mysis as lfs, but its been two weeks now and I have not seen it anything at all in my tank. I have actually spent over 3x the cost of the fish already in different kinds of food but it just does not want to eat anything at all. it does comes out and swim around during feeding time.

thanks

Have you tried frozen cyclopeeze? I would also try frozen daphnia, Nutra Mar OVA and Reef Nutrition arcti-pods if you can get them. I'm curious if any of these work for purple queens. Good luck!

Ummm...zooplankton? :lolspin:

Sorry I had to. I used to feed zooplankton to my tank and it had to be refrigerated. It came in a TINY bottle and you used an eye dropper to measure it out before adding it to tank watter and then to the tank. It was heavily concentrated and needed to be diluted. I'll go out into the garage and see if I still have some and see what the brand name was. They also made phytoplankton.

Cyclopeeze is one of the best foods to get finicky anthias to start eating, IME.

Frozen Mysis, Liquid Life Marine Plankton with Cyclopeze. Just make sure to feed them at least 2-3 times a day. JN

thanks for the suggestions. I'll give them a try.

frozen red cyclopeze, and h2o brand are no go. also powder type. rod's food no go as well. it's probably eating something when I don't see it, it's almost two weeks now.

If it's not responding to frozen mysis or the liquid life, there may be a problem. When we receive these fish from their countries of origin, they typically take about 1-2 days to start feeding eagerly on frozen mysis or Ocean nutrition prime reef. How many do you have? Sometimes they do not do well in captivity unless you have at least 1 male and a couple of females. JN

I tried h2o brand frozen rotifers. I saw it open its mouth a few times. can't really say if its eating or not. that's a female right?
