what to feed "the package"

I'm starting to get everything ready for finally ordering "the package" when I get back from my honeymoon in two weeks. One of my last big questions, is what should I feed the tank? Part one? part two? long-term? I'd like to keep it economical and simple (and dry is preferred) but what should I feed the tank to make sure all the life is maintained? would something like Rod's food feed everything or do I need smaller particles? Also, I could set up a phyto reactor, but I've heard mixed reports on the phyto not really being a good food source for the corals. The phyto feed rotifers which in turn feed the fish, true or not? Thanks for the help!

phyto will feed most sponges, feather duster, tunicates, small larval shrimps, copepods, etc.

as for LPS corals mysis or cyclopeeze will suffice. anemones mysis krill silversides.

and what ever fish food you like to use??

you could use phyto sparingly during the whole process but be careful with it but really you shouldnt feed until you have ammonia nitrites and nitrates stable then feed only sparsely, slowly increasing amount of food fed.

OK, I think I can handle that. I'll just make sure to feed the tank, both for LPS, fish, and filter feeders. Is DIY phyto just as good as store bought?

well, I suppose you have to get some first, but you can propagate your own with a DIY reactor. Melevsreef had info on it I believe...

i vary what i feed mine, i usually feed every other day w/marine snow, dt, zooplex etc, i figure that way everything gets what it needs from the sponges to the corals and the gorgonians really extend those polyps at feeding time.
